Sitara Schmitz as a screen composer blends acoustic and electronic elements into a sound that is emotionally charged. With an openness for experimental she is producing with hybrid methods and also loves to record with real life musicians. The human touch means a lot to her.

 

She looks for subtleties. Where the beauty of sadness is having a date with the queen of chaos and craziness can be expressed as well as inner perspectives, always following the story-telling of the moment in time.

Sitara Schmitz is a strong team-player. As a sound engineer she is working for TV and Radiostations since 2006 together with her husband Henning Schmitz in their soundstudio Studio X.1 in Cologne, where they offer post-production, sounddesign and mixing/ mastering, also specialized in immersive audio productions.

 

Having a great network of musicians and additional inhouse composers makes her capable of serving small to big projects. She is able to adapt to the needed and easy in communication.

 

With a songwriter’s intuition and an engineer’s precision, she creates scores from a small cast up to orchestral recordings. Sitara Schmitz` special skill is producing in immersive audio. As a music producer she has focussed on creating emotionally touching mixes with a passion of recording vocalists and instrumentalists.

 

Her work as a composer for media includes several compositions for audio dramas and radio features for WDR and Deutschlandfunk. With her project Planet Ö (Sony) she gathered experience in producing music for children.

 

As an artist Sitara Schmitz is releasing music under her name SITARA in the genre indietronic singer-songwriter. She bridges continents and cultures through sound. Musically grown up between Europe and India, she channels an eclectic sensibility into music that’s deeply personal and genre-fluid.

Currently, SITARA is working on her solo album and live set “The Dark Stage,” to be released in immersive 3D-audio in 2027. With this album she is fulfilling herself a dream - producing on a very high quality level - songs that come from moments showing her deepest and sometimes darkest feelings.

Sitara Schmitz` first instrument is her voice. She plays guitar, piano/ keys, flutes, specially the indian Bansuri and has a collection of indian instruments. Programming and arranging with midi gives her the freedom to include all kind of sounds and she also loves working with improvisation. 

​

Lately she took part in the Galaxy Academy powered by musicube at the Galaxy Studios in Belgium, composing a filmscore and recording it with a strings orchestra.
