Sitara Schmitz blends acoustic and electronic elements into scores that are emotionally charged and quietly unconventional. Her range runs from melancholy drama and romance to playful, cartoon-like children's content. Whatever the register, she follows the story: its subtleties, its inner perspectives, and the beauty she often finds in sadness.

Since 2006 she has worked as a sound engineer for TV and radio at Studio X.1 in Cologne, which she runs with Henning Schmitz. The studio offers post-production, sound design, and mixing and mastering from stereo to Dolby Atmos 7.1.4. That experience shapes her scoring: a songwriter's intuition combined with an engineer's precision.

Her media work includes compositions for audio dramas for WDR, radio features for Deutschlandfunk, and the children's music project Planet Ö (Sony). At the Galaxy Academy, held at Galaxy Studios in Belgium, she composed a film score and recorded it with a string orchestra.

Voice is her first instrument. She also plays guitar, keys, flutes and the Indian bansuri, and works with a wide network of live musicians, from small ensembles to strings. She produces with hybrid methods but values the human touch: no AI is used in her composition or production.

As an artist she releases music as SITARA.
